Villarreal fails to transfer Samuel Chukwueze to Liverpool for £30m.
He penned a new deal at the club in October in which he demanded that a £100m release and which will be in place for the next two years before dropping to £80m in the third year, which would allow the player to move for less and reward his loyalty.
The young winger has played his entire senior career at Villareal, starting with 20 appearances and four goals for the B side before making his senior debut in September 2018.
He has made a total of 59 appearances for the first team, scoring 12 goals including one in a 2-0 win over Spartak Moscow in the Europa League.
At international level he has represented his country since 2018, scoring 2 goals in 13 appearances.
Liverpool are claimed to have made a £30million move for Chukwueze in January and remain keen to sign him in the summer.
According to the Mail, they could now face plenty of competition for his signature, however.
Manchester City and Chelsea are also interested in signing the player, with Villarreal valuing him at closer to £60m.
